combining images from different scales
« on: 2013 December 07 04:33:25 »
Hi,I have two sets of luminance data from different set ups that are of a slightly different scale,These sets have been callibrated seperately using the BPS.However when I register and integrate them using the individual tools I either end up with big halos around the stars or strange artifacts around the stars I must be doing something wrong or not doing something I should be doing,as when these image sets are integrated seperately they are fine.Any help very much appreciated

check the individual aligned sub exposures for ringing artifacts. i find that the default lanczos-3 interpolation, while really excellent, most of the time gives ringing artifacts around brighter stars. you can try lowering the clamping parameter, or try switching to one of the bicubic interpolators to get around this.

I lowered the clamping threshold that seemed to get rid of the halos but I still had some artifacts which I could not remove with the windsorised sigma setting so I tried the linear fit and that appears to have done the trick. Thanks again Rob for your help
