Automation & Process Icons ...

I've been using PI to process the components of a large Lunar mosaic i'm working on (around 92 images in total). Process Icons are *definately* the forward when working with such large image sets! Wavelet & cropping was made a very simple process

... but ...

The input files were TIFF (RGB) so has to be manually converted to grayscale and after processing saved out as unsigned 16-bit FITS files in a different directory and this process really was quite tedious! Is there a reason greyscale is not a process icon? Linking Process Icons to perform a set of proceedures would be really cool too - ie, convert to greyscale, wavelet process, slight crop, save to specific dir as certain file type. It would have saved me a couple of hours or so at any rate!! Maybe there are was of doing most of this already but I must have missed them

BTW: The new API sounds interesting - when I get time I shall have to have a play with it (I have a few ideas i'd like to try out).

Hi Simon

You have two ways (at least) to create a icon for the Grayscale process.
- Right-click on the main window's background and select the new process icon menu, now choose the Grayscale process.
- Drag a process icon of the Grayscale process from a ProcessContainer, or History view. Drop it on the background, or another process container.

Remember that process containers allows you to apply a set of processes to a group of images, using the standard apply button.

The only task that cannot be accomplished that way is saving the files...
but you may use my little program called ToFITS to automatize this. It is located at http://pteam.pleiades-astrophoto.com/carlos
I'm planing to import this program as a module to the new beta release in the near future.

(BTW, we'll be looking forward to seeing you using the PCL... you are gonna love it ;) )

I didn't realise that Greyscale had a process icon because I have been using the menus rather than context menus. The Process menu's color space submenu does not have the same icons on as the context menu's new process->color space menu (A bug perhaps?) (

I did get rather accomplished at doing the alt-i-c-c combination though )

Good point!  
Hope this won't happen in the new application; we're putting a lot of care to keep the GUI fully coherent.

Come on, try these ideas on the PCL framework - you count with our full support in all of your programming work.
