Inverting mask
« on: 2013 November 23 05:16:19 »
HI,
I am trying to understand when I should invert the mask in Pixinsight.
If I want to work on the back ground in invert the mask.
If I work on the DSO I leave the mask as normal.
Could you please let me know if my assumption is correct.
Many thanks
Vince

Hi Vince,

You are correct.
I often struggle through this same thought process, so don't feel alone.

To be more precise it depends on the mask. The best way to know is to show the mask. Where you see solid color the mask is blocking. Then toggle the invert to see which way you want it.

Hi Froggy,

Yes - default colour for masks is Red - so when you apply whatever is RED is protected... John
