PI 1.8 RC7 Crash on "loading interface states"
« on: 2013 November 22 05:19:24 »
I've been working one one project of the comet and saved it. Started new project with different processing and saved it too. Now I can't open either of them as PI crashes on the "Loading interface states". There is probably some process, or icon, that I used to process the comet, that cause the crash, because other projects open fine.

This what I got in Event Viewer :

Faulting application name: PixInsight.exe, version: 1.8.0.1023, time stamp: 0x51f807ac
Faulting module name: MSVCR110.dll, version: 11.0.51106.1, time stamp: 0x5098826e
Exception code: 0x40000015

When you save project there is *.data folder created with the same name. There are files, images, with names like WAJ6R... and number counts. If i delete the very last one, and try to load project again, I can save some processed images that were in the project, but I loose all the icons and process states.

In simple words they are not recoverable now.

Hi,

I cannot reproduce this problem. Can you upload the .xosm file? Along with trying to find the cause of this problem, I'll probably be able to recover your project.

Sure, Juan, here is the link to a faulty project file.

Thank you.

Hi Sergio,

I have discovered a small bug in the ImageIntegration tool that is causing these problems. Please replace your .xosm file with the one I have attached to this post, and see if now you can load your project without errors.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I have already fixed this bug, so it won't be present in the next 1.8.0 release.

Juan,
I will try 100 times if I need to, as long as I can help.

But it still crashes.

OK, let's try a third time (there's no two without three as they say).

This version of the XOSM file has no interface states; just images and icons.

Thank you so much for your help!

Yes, this one is loading fine, images and icons.
Seems like some interface states causing the trouble?

Yes. Would you like to make a few more tests, to see if we can narrow the specific interface that is causing the problem?

This one has all the original interface definitions except ImageIntegration. Should load well, if I have really found the problem. Otherwise there's something more that is eluding me. Fingers crossed.

Let's try disabling track view for the STF and Resample tools (which were enabled in your original project). We are getting close :)
