Does anyone know the origin of this error message?

Came up when trying to do STF.  This quickly led to an abend that forced the program to close.

- Do you have all updates?
- Is the problem reproducible?
- If it is reproducible, can you share the image?

I don't know the circumstances that cause the error and the system is current.  I usually have lots going on meaning 5-6 workspaces with projects in various stages of development.  From time to time I'll be unable to close a window because it is "locked", but I'm not sure why that happens.  And finally, PI rarely remembers simple things like my favorite process list.  Often when I open PI it looks like it did in its default state wrt process favorites.  Seems all this is likely related.  I could do a complete reinstall to see if that helps, but it's a shot in the dark.

Hi Lloyd,

the fact that settings, favorites etc. are forgotten is probably due to the fact that each PI instance (=process, =GU window) uses its private set of settings. This is a "feature" of PI that personally find rather annyoing/surprising. You are using multiple PI instances, as I can see from the screenshot.

To void using multiple PI instances, prefer the use of workspaces within one instance.

As long as you cant reproduce the crash, the developers can probably not do much about it.

If you have a lot of things open, then it could be a limitation of the 32 bit version you seem to be using. That version is obsolete and you'll need to pass to the 64bit one, provided you have a 64 bit os.
