Help with OSC
« on: 2013 October 20 14:01:06 »
Hello,
I'm new on the forum but I've been using PI for alittle over a year.

I recently bought an Atik 460ex OSC to use with Hyperstar.

Question:

When I open up the file in PI it has a checkerd pattern.
When I process it and save it as a .tiff or .jped it still retains that check pattern.

What am I doing wrong?

TIA,
Roberto

OSC sensors don't inherently recognize the color of the photons they catch. The sensor itself is actually a monochrome sensor. On top of the sensor, however, is an array of RGB filters. So each pixel of the sensor only sees a portion of the visual spectrum. The filters are arranged so that for each pixel you can interpolate the missing colors from the surrounding pixels. The color filter array (also called the Bayer matrix) is the cause of the pattern. You need to "debayer" the images to convert them from monochrome bayer matrix images to color images.

Thank you,
Yes I understand the filter array.

I do a batch processing and I select the CFA option, does this not debayer?

If not, then how do I debayer?

Thanks
