Update problem
« on: 2013 October 06 13:34:46 »
During updating PI V1.8RC7 I get the error message "Unable to install updates. Can't find required components". I'm running the 64 bit version on Windows 8.
Can anybody give me a fix for this?

Thanks for the fast reply. I guess my problem is indeed similar to the problem that is being adressed in your link. I just unchecked read-only for the temp folder but now I get a different error : "Authentication error. The server says: 'INVALID AUTHORIZATION CODE'". Will do a re-boot to see if that eill help.

Ok, I found a fix. I did not reboot but I just tried to start PI again. That worked without getting the error message with respect to user authentication.  I noticed that  the temp folder was set back to read-only. Tried the same steps again but got the same result. I than made a new directory for the downloads. During the update I had to re-enter my username and password and after that the update was successfully completed    :D

I tried to update to 1.8.0.1071  and got the same error as before. The same workaround as before (change the folder to which the updates are being downloaded) did the job but it's a bit annoying  that it doesn't work the way it's supposed to do >:(
