Mac issue, windows are opaque when dragged.
« on: 2013 September 11 12:39:13 »
Hi,

Warren asked me to post this.  I asked him about his tip for testing a mask by dragging it over the original image using the transparency of the dragged window to see the effect of the mask on the underlying original image.

With the Mac, the dragged windows are completely opaque so the original image cannot be seen through the overlying window as it is dragged.

Please don't take time to reply, I'm merely letting you know if you didn't already.  I'm not looking for a solution or a workaround.

Hi David,

Of course we are aware of this limitation. The lack of transparency effects for workspace child windows is due to a Qt bug that remains unfixed for years, and I have nearly no hope to see it solved. So unfortunately, translucent image windows are only supported by PixInsight for Windows and Linux/UNIX, but not by the Mac OS X version.

That said, I am always trying to improve PixInsight's GUI on all supported platforms, so this limitation may eventually be overcome. Sorry for the inconvenience.
