Updates not occurring for version 1.8

My original Pixinsight installation was version 1.8 back in April 2013 on our Imac. Since then, I have not detected any updates. I believe there have been a few if not many updates. When I look at manage repositories the listing is:

pixinsight.com/update/
update-revel.pixinsight.com/

When I check for updates, it always returns no updates for this installation.

I think it is a conspiracy.  I have a PC and got about 3-4 in the past week....

what version of 1.8 are you running? you should be on RC7.

It would be nice if my password worked so I can log in and update my version from RC5. It would be even better if sw updating worked at all. I had no idea about RC5,6, or 7 or whatever it is up to. What the hell is RC7?

RC is common terminology in the software world for "release candidate", meaning, a version of the software that is thought to be stable enough to become the final released version.

RC7 is the latest release of 1.8, but 1.8 is not yet final. all of the RCs were announced here on the forum... the core application can not be upgraded thru the upgrade system - only processes, scripts, documentation, etc can be upgraded in-app.

the username/password for the software distribution server is different than the forum username/password. it should be in the email you received when you bought a license for PI.

Download RC7 installation file, remove your previous version, then install the new version.

Hi all,
I am new to PI, but this topic is general to my issue. So here goes.

I tried the Trial license and really liked it so I bought the commercial license. For the trial and commercial I used it on a Win 7 64bit premium laptop.
But I got a new PC to work with. It is a Win7 64bit Ent.  And after copying the users license  file to the PC and installing PI, All seems to be working fine, except I cannot get the updates to recognize a repository to pull from. The resources show, https://pixinsight.com/update/ ( or something  to that fashion. ).  But it fails to perform any updates.  My laptop works fine.

Keep in mind is still a bare bones system, and has no apps on it other than PI, except that which comes with Win 7 Ent. I have a good network connection and IE work fine. I have no firewall configured either.  This is 1.8 RC7

I welcome any ides.

Any error messages? Which version is displayed in the Console Window when you start (something like shown below)? Did you try to trigger update manually (Resources/Updates/Check for Updates)? Did you try http://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=5629.msg38505#msg38505 ?

 error message saying could not update, ( show details is the repo url.,    01.08.00.1015,     and yes I tried manually.
 I will remove the xri file and try it. I am not at the PC at this time.

Tried all , no good. The .xri file was not present, Thought I'd copy it from another PC. That didn't work.
I don't know how to paste an image, so here is the error details

After the failure, the message is this.

I changed the https secure to http, and all but the core_c update worked.
So I installed The Microsoft security patch and that looks like it took care of that as well.

Same problem down here. Can't get to install the following package, a core bugfix: 20130723-macosx-x86_64-core-c.tar.gz
Release date : 2013-07-23 00:00:00. Since it is a core package, it demands my credentials, even after changing to use the http:// server, giving this message: "File checksum error: /tmp/PixInsight64-update/pixinsight.com/20130723-macosx-x86_64-core-c.tar.gz"
Every other update installs flawlessly, I tried to search for this .22 update in the Software distribution site (same login/password), no such thing available?
Any thoughts?
