Correct Color Calibration/Representation
« on: 2013 May 22 23:23:11 »
I have been experimenting with the data of a friend and my question is regarding correct color representation.
We all know the standard color of M8/M20...mainly reddish hue, even the IFN.
However, I have tried a standard processing (DBE,BN, CC) and this is the result. Namely, unusual color, but not freakish.
They do appear not forced and smooth.
Again, how can we sure, or as close to that, that our color are true??

I agree Dimitris, I don't think you are out of the ballpark, Ha is pinker, than red and I often see some of that purple at the Lagoon's core, though not quite so blue. I've seen Ha fluoresce in a vacuum tube and it looks like bubblegum!

Ha ha Dimitris! Not 'Ha' as in Hydrogen alpha! ;>) It was actually my friend the great Jim Burnell of Burnell-Berry AIP4Win fame who demonstrated that to a Midwest Astro-Imaging Conference group several years ago.

The last time I mixed Ha in w/ LRGB, I was still in Photoshop and I look forward to trying it with PI soon.

Just look through an H alpha filter to see the world in H alpha
