Using ColorCalibration on non galaxy images
« on: 2013 May 09 01:16:55 »
Hi all,
I just want a clarification: on every tutorial I've read/watched, a galaxy image is used when explaining how to use ColorCalibration. I get the why: this is the best case scenario as you have a clear source for white reference in the galaxy itself.
But what about other images, say nebulaes? What should I take for black/white reference and how does the other parameters adjust to this?

Thanks!

Hi,
When you have a galaxy in the image, you can take that galaxy as a white reference and use ColorCalibration tool in the range selection mode.
If you have no galaxy, then you need to select a large numbers of stars to be used as white reference in ColorCalibration tool, commonly all the image, and in this case use ColorCalibration in structure detection mode.
Take a look to BackgroundNeutralization and ColorCalibration
Saludos.
Alejandro.
