HaRGB Script
« on: 2013 April 26 22:31:52 »
Hi,

I am trying to run the HaRGB script and I get this error, no matter what or how many images I use, including linear and non-linear.

Any ideas? I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks,

Graham.

Hi!

No thoughts?

I have tried some of the other threads  regarding this script. Is no one else using this script and/or having problems with it?  ???

Thanks,

Graham.

Hi Graham, the script is not available in 1.8 RC7, and I do not have 1,7 now to check it.
May be you can use Script>Multi Channel Synthesis> HaRVB-AIP

Saludos.
Alejandro.

I have 1.8 RC7 and see the later script.  I am on a steep learning curve also and looking for documentation on these scripts.  Does it exist anywhere?

Mmmh, I seems that is not in the oficial distribution for linux.

Graham, I downloaded it and work without problem.

Jerry, maybe this can be useful

Thanks for the help.

I did not read the end of the other thread properly and did not download Harry's version. Now that I have, it is working fine.

Thanks again for your time.

What other thread?  Can you direct?  Do not see any downloads on Harry's page?

Last night I collected a bunch of H-alpha for M-101 so am ready to test this script with my existing LRGB data, but is there some basic documentation somewhere?  I have found some discussions.

Also, I put it in the scripts folder, but does not seem to show up in the menu.  I have to execute it.

It does run on M101 data fine, but I guess I am underwhelmed by the H-alpha signal in comparison to Luminosity.  I assume this is normal... looks to me like the H-alpha at 1200s is much weaker and overlaps 100% with the Luminosity at 600s... not much to be gained?

Thanks VERY MUCH.  Am going on a long trip and can look at the video on the plane.  I am very happy to see in the first few minutes it explains the deconvolution process, which has been a black box to me.

Jerry, open your RGB image (preferable at a linear stage), run the script, select your Ha and your RGB image in the corresponding fields, put the sliders regarding Ha and RGB bandwith (7 and 100 are for Baader filters), and play with the three buttons (Show Ha, Show RGB, show HaRGB) until you are happy with the settings. Zoom in-out the preview image. I usually skip the color calibration/SCRN to green, etc, I'm doing them later manually.
Mind that the script is made for HaRGB, not HaLRGB. HaLRGB is a bit....tricky? How you put Ha in L without killing the other colors? My only attempt ever on this was to join with pixelmath L+Ha (Ha in a small percentage) and then use this as a new L for an already HaRGB image.

I hope I help a bit

Have to say the tutorial is GREAT!  This technique of ChannelExtractriuon and replacement of Luminance saves about 14 steps of processing.  The Linear Fit is also an enormous worksaver.  I have been working over M101 data and the only real major problem I have is the colorcalibration... a little too red/pink.  Not sure where that is coming from... but am on vacation and have time to play with the processing....

Thanks again.

Thanks!  I was not aware of this issue and have run into colorcalibration issues.  Maybe this is part of the problem.  I'll read your comment over carefully.  This program is very powerful/technical so the devil is definitely in the details.
