Hi,
I'm new to PisInsight and can see how it could help my astro photos, but I don't have a clue. I'm trying to follow the tutorials, but they seem to be aimed at people that have had some experience with similar functions. Has anyone made a tutorial or explanation of functions geared to the novice? I use a Canon 300D.  I shoot in RAW and develop linear with Canon DPP. After applying histogram adjustments, they are *very* noisy. I don't have a remote shutter release, so I am limited to 30 second exposures, so I take several and attempt to stack them. Any help will be greatfully appreciated. I am particularly interested in DBE and wavelets for now.
Thanks,

Hi George,

First of all, my apologies for the long delay in my answer - sorry but this message escaped me.

Have you seen the new video tutorials by Stef Cancelli? They are great and a huge help to get introduced to PixInsight LE:

With 30-second exposures I suppose your frames will be really noisy. Feel free to post some examples here. We'll be glad to try to help you with some processing advice.

Thank you very much for your interest.

Hi George

I also use a Canon 300D and find PixInsight LE very useful.  I have also done quite a few 30-second exposures.  I agree with Juan that the videos are very instructive.

Can you tell me what Canon DPP is?  I haven't heard of it before.

Thanks and regards

Dave

Hi,
Thanks to both of you for your replies. Thanks to Juan for getting me back on the forum.
I am aware of the tutorials online, but they require that I upgrade my M$ viewer to the DRM manacled version, something I am not willing to do. If anyone knows of a open source viewer for Winders2k, let me know.
I don't have a remote release so I am limited to 30 second exposures. My present setup is with my 300D mounted on an old Kencor drive on my tripod and wedge for my orange tube Celestron C8. When I get some decent pictures that way I will start shooting through the C8.
I'll study what I can find online and if I still have questions, I'll be back.
Thanks,
