Problem with preview window
« on: 2013 March 28 21:49:52 »
Hallo, PI Forum.
I haven't used PI for nearly 8 months ( due to reubulding my observatory ) and have just installed Ver.1.8 on my Windows System.  I tried it out quickly and immediately came across a problem I haven't seen before.  When I hit new preview, a window popped up and allowed me to type in size and coordinates, but in the old version I could simply drag a box around an object with the mouse and that was it.  Now, if I just use the default, I get a 254x254 box in the upper left corner and don't seem to be able to move it.
I am sure I am doing something wrong or overlooking something - any ideas what ?

Best wishes, Dave

 ???

It's at the *exact* same location as it was in PI 1.7. And the new icon (a lateral tab) represents a preview much better than the previous one (a paper sheet) IMHO.

Thanks for the help guys - I tried it and it worked a treat.
I must admit, I am a beginner with PI but am very impressed with some of the things it can do.  I am also pleased that it is continually being developed and getting even more features that it previously lacked eg Batch Preprocessing.  Having said this, I am afraid I have to agree with Harry that the new layout is somewhat bland and confusing - but I will get used to it.
Once again thanks, also to Harry for some great vids.
Have a great easter.

This is being picky, but the contrast of the Edit Preview Mode button changes very little from the disabled to enabled state. Other preview related icons have a very light touch of color. Maybe the line representing the rectangle of the preview could be green, as the 'green' of the + of new preview that remind the green of the preview border?
I always found the location of that icon surprising, as I expected it near the other preview related icons.
Just personal taste.
