stacking comparison
« on: 2012 December 07 19:02:08 »
I've noticed a small difference in PixInsight stacked images compared to MaxIm DL. Actually, it's MaxIm DL that appears different than others... i.e. PI's output seems identical to ImagesPlus output in my example.  Anyway, I've posted my observations here:

Thoughts?

I zoomed in on one of the corners the same amount (8:1) there is a definite difference between the to images.  The MaxImDL seems to have done some sort of blur?

seems like this could be due to the registration algorithm. or did you register all subs with the same software and only do the stacking in the respective programs?

I registered the subs in PixInsight. I then combined those subs in MaxIm DL,
ImagesPlus, and PixInsight to compare the three programs (my webpage only shows
the MaxIm DL and PixInsight versions... the ImagesPlus stack is identical to the
PixInsight stack). So the only variable in play here is the program used to do
the combine.
