final touch up for web presentation
« on: 2012 October 24 15:33:08 »
Hi,
I am having troubles in preparing an image for a website presentation.

The image is nice (to my standard...) in PI, especially at wide enlargements ( the ccd is 4k squared pixels).

When I prepare  the image for te web the result is not satisfactory: low apparent resolution, lack of contrast, etc.

Are there any specific steps to make the image more appealing on the web?

many thanks,
Andrea

Are you using a custom ICC profile? If so, convert the image to the sRGB profile, and attach it to the image.

Hi Carlos,
I am using sRGB already...
I think is related to the downsampling of the image, mostly.
On one image yesterday I got a better representation going donw from 4kx4k to 1.6x1.6k, instead of 2x2k.
Is t his normal?

Hi Andrea, I usally do as follow:

1) Resample de image to de maximun size allowed by the site you are publishing on. Example in blogger it is 1600 x 1060.

2) When saving the image as .jpg select the maximun quality (ideally 100%) but checking that the final weight of the image is the allowed in the site. Example in blogger it is around 550 kb.

Whether one or the other larger, then bogger will resample or change quality of the image and it will be shown as follow:

Regards, Alejandro.
