Question on previews in latest release
« on: 2007 December 08 07:50:52 »
I downloaded the new (and I imagine final?) time-limited download. I assume this is the actual commercial release. And I noticed that the way to create previews has changed. Now when I click on "new preview" I get a dialog box asking for the size and location in pixels. This seems much more difficult than just drawing a box. Is there a way to still do it the older way? Also, how do I locate pixel coordinates to tell the new method where to draw the box? (Perhpaps this should be under wish list

Thanks,
Larry

I think I am a little with LD on this one, in that drawing the box was great.  However once you have done one or two previews you can ball park the location pretty well.  Then you can modify location from the dropdown.  It would be nice to click and drag the window to the spot you wnated, or as LD says draw the box.

A super-fast mini-tutorial on defining previews :)

To define a preview interactively, select the New Preview mode (Image > Mode > New Preview, or Alt+N, or click on the corresponding tool button). Then click at any point on the image and drag:

Once you release the mouse, the new preview is created covering the selected rectangle. Then the Edit Preview mode (Alt+E) is automatically selected, in case you want to refine preview's coordinates:

Finally, if you want to modify an existing preview, select the Edit Preview mode (Alt+E) manually and drag any corner or side of the preview's rectangle:

It may happen that a preview entirely covers a smaller preview. If this happens, to select the smaller preview in Edit Preview mode, press the Ctrl key while you click on the image.

Hope this clarifies.
