Software Download II
« on: 2012 September 23 12:33:47 »
My last thread was getting kind of long so I thought I'd start a new one in the hope that someone who can do something about this will see it.  Again my problem.

Can someone PLEASE help me.  I've been a PixInsight user for more than 2 years... love the software... but I'm trying to set up a new observatory computer and I can't download the install files.  ( I have my lic file from my laptop ).  My download user / name password didn't work.  Pix support emailed what they have on their server and that doesn't work either.. I've been trying for 4 days now and it's getting very old.  I can't believe people who can write such decent software have a problem with websites / user names / passwords.

You would think as long as the software needs the lic file to work, you shouldn't need a password to download the install.  Guess I could try just copying the files and digging into the registry  but my observatory computer is 32bit and my laptop is 64 bit... don't think that will fly

I have not followed your previous thread, so I do not know what you have done and what you got so far.
Just my experience on similar issue : try to figure out if any local software is playing games with you, ie disable temporary any antivirus/firewall program (my case) and/or try from another machine. Mind that eg with win7, even if you have disabled firewall, there are some rules running behind your back.

Just my 2 cents

Hi Al, perhaps this can be solved only by Juan, but for checking:

In this site: http://dist.pixinsight.com/ you have to include the data you have recieved in the original email for download and activation of the software.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Usuario (username)    : wa4hnd
Contraseña (password) : xxxxxxxxxxxxx
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just try again and it works fine with my user name and password

Hope your problem can be solved soon .

Alejandro.

Thanks for all the ideas...but after a lot of digging I FOUND THE PROBLEM.

I went back through my emails and a few years ago, they changed my user name and password.    It's been so long I forgot what it was and when I emailed them last week to resend my log in, they sent me the original one and NOT the new one they had assigned me.   So obviously their database is different from what the site is looking at.   That's a pretty serious problem in my opinion but I guess that's not my problem now since I'm in and downloaded the install.

Now hopefully my lic file works on the new computer <g>.   I'll report back and let you all know.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

Al

Hi Al

Glad you sorted it out. Unfortunately, from our side, Juan is the only one that has access to that, so we were unable to help you until he appears.
