Yeah. Mono cameras plus filters are expensive. The filters (LRGB, Ha, Oiii, Sii) and filter wheel didn't cost much less than the camera itself.   :o

The results are very rewarding. You have much more control with mono cameras than OSC cameras.

Hi Peter,

I've been discouraged by the continually worsening skies at my QTH (home). At some point I'll have to switch to NB if I want to keep imaging. Unfortunately the main cause of the decline appears to be more humidity in the sky. This has a diffusing effect that can't really be compensated for. A couple of years ago they opened the skies over our town to airliners flying into NYC. The contrails they leave a truly horrendous. After spending more than $10K on an EM-400 and HD1100 you can imagine my frustration when the skies close for months at a time. Hopefully this winter will bring cold, clear nights. Didn't have many of those last winter either.  :'(
Best,

    Sander

Similar things are also happening in Reno, NV. Contrails are all over the sky lately this time of the year. I have one more filter left to image Bubble Nebula which is SII so I can process all three NB images but the clouds and bad seeing prevent from me to image.  >:(
