Executing a sequence of steps across multiple images
« on: 2012 September 05 03:21:01 »
Hi.

I've got a series of images - well, ~200 lunar eclipse images of which I need ~80 or so to be used. The basic initial pre-processing is the same, crop, histogram etc. Whilst I can create process icons, and drag and drop these onto each open image, this presents the following problem;
1) If I load all 80 images at once, the swap space goes a bit nuts, and the system slows down somewhat (only 8GByte of RAM)
2) It really is tedious applying process icon 1 to 80 images, then process icon 2 etc. etc. etc.

I have searched and checked as much as I can, but not seen an answer. Is there a tool/script/utility that I can use to apply a single process icon (or even better, several of them) to a number of images, either already open, or on disk.

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum - been a while since I've posted anything...

Cheers -

Do you know about Image Container ? It does exactly what you want, put the images, trim the parameters regarding the output of the results, save an instance on the desktop, drag any process (even a process container I think) over it. I'm doing this a lot of times for batch processes on many images.

Ahhh, WOW, thanx.

Had heard about ImageContainers, but didn't remember enough detail to apply it to my situation. Indeed, it is what I need.

By following http://www.astrosurf.com/astronosur/pixinsight/image-container-1.htm or the translated
http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.astrosurf.com%2Fastronosur%2Fpixinsight%2Fimage-container-1.htm

I have all the answers that I need. Thank you (and of course all the PI devs and contributors) for saving a LOT of my time.
