Problems on Linux
« on: 2012 August 17 01:47:31 »
[I've also emailed this to support as I didn't have access to the forum at the time]

I've just installed the trial version of the latest PI (x86) on Ubuntu 11.04.  The installation went fine and I was prompted to install the latest updates (19 of them), which I did.

On restarting PI in the console window the following error was displayed:

/usr/local/pixinsight-x86/bin/IntensityTransformations-pxm.so
<* failed *>
*** PixInsight API Error: Module: /usr/local/pixinsight-x86/bin/IntensityTransformations-pxm.so
Cannot load library /usr/local/pixinsight-x86/bin/IntensityTransformations-pxm.so: (/usr/local/pixinsight-x86/bin/IntensityTransformations-pxm.so: undefined symbol: _ZN3pcl22PreviewSelectionDialogC1ERKNS_6StringE): Module load error

Some time later I noticed that the STF tool was not in the menus.  I couldn't find a way to get it back, so I reinstalled and it was present.  Updating once more caused exactly the same problem, so I assume the above module contains the STF function.

I was going to attempt to reinstall once again and apply all the updates except the IntensityTransformations one, but now I get an error "INVALID AUTHORIZATION CODE", so I can make no further progress with this.

Can anyone help?

James

Looks like the authorization issue was a temporary problem at PI's end as this morning it works.

I can now confirm that without the IntensityTransformations updates the STF function is present, so there appears to be an issue with that update.

Hi James,

Unfortunately, the latest update to the IntensityTransformations module is broken for 32-bit Linux (wrong compilation). I cannot fix that update right now, but you can extract an older version of the module (IntensityTransformations-pxm.so) from the tar.gz installation archive, which you can copy to your bin installation directory.

The best thing you can do is to upgrade your system to an up-to-date 64-bit Linux distribution. Bear in mind that all 32-bit versions of PixInsight have been declared obsolete, and the next version 1.8 that we'll released in September won't be available for 32-bit Linux.

I am sorry for the inconvenience. Let me know if you need help extracting the old IntensityTransformations module.

I can extract the module, no problem.  And I've demonstrated to myself that the update doesn't fail on a 64-bit system.  Unfortunately I can't test on the 64-bit system at the moment, and the 32-bit install is still returning INVALID AUTHORIZATION CODE :(
