I know PI scales darks to match actual times and temps but how does it actually know what those parameters are - the info isn't in the FITS header?

It doesn't. It uses an automatic algorithm that reduces the noise of the result, searching for the best dark scalation.

Ok, that makes sense.
Another newbie question: Hovering over a parameter shows a tool tip and some of the info seems to overrun the box size - looks like there's more text but I can't get to it - is there a way to resize the boxes?
