Newbie needs help
« on: 2012 August 08 15:07:16 »
I've been evaluating PI and worked through most of the tutorials so I thought I'd try my hand on my own data, poor as it is.  I obtained some M20 imagery last night, calibrated and stacked in a separate program (still can't get PI to calibrate my imagery right)  and when I create the RGB image, I get red/orange halos around many of the brighter stars.  The LRGB image of course has the same artifacts.  I can't see any blooming in the individual images that would cause the halos.

What am I doing wrong?  I can create the LRGB image in my old standby program and I get a decent image with no halos.

tnx

John

I solved the problem - Chrominance Noise Reduction was the cause - had to reduce the smoothed wavelet layers to 2.
