How do I create a Defect Map
« on: 2012 July 03 04:17:36 »
Hello,
Is there a tutorial or other instructions on how to create an image Defect Map?

When I try to use the DefectMap function, I get an error stating that the view is locked to writing?

My images have many hot pixels that my darks and other processing doesn't seem to remove.

They are obvious in my Master Darks and lights but I cannot seem to be able to remove them.

Any help on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Regards,
Luke

Load up your Master Dark and then apply the Binarise process to it. You will need to play with the threshold setting to just pick up the warm pixels using live preview. Then do an image Invert process and save the resulting image as your master defect map. The invert makes most of the image white other than a few black specks. You can now apply it to files using the defect map process.

I find it works really well on images from CCD's with a low dark signal but some warm pixels if you dont dither subs.
