I would be interested to know why the Wiki was discontinued?

The wiki was a nice initiative of a group of users, which I appreciate a lot. It started very well as a community effort, and we provided the required infrastructure (hosting, wiki software and software maintenance). Unfortunately, it was abandoned some time after it was created. Without almost any updates and no clear direction to go after one year or so, I decided to discontinue it, mainly because it was giving a wrong impression of PixInsight as something not serious.

I do like the idea of a PixInsight Wiki. However, it has to originate and grow exclusively as a community-driven project. If necessary, we can provide all the necessary infrastructure, but we cannot invest human resources to generate wiki contents---we have to invest them in writing documentation, producing video tutorials, etc. If some users want to start a new wiki, I'd be glad to hear them.

A good friend of mine has told me that the word "b****hit" I used in a previous post is very strong and sometimes offensive. As you probably know I am Spanish, so English isn't my mother tongue, and I sometimes make rookie mistakes. This happens to me especially when I'm writing with, so to say, more vehemence than usual ... :)

it's not really offensive, at least not anymore. saying "this is b****shit" really just means "this sucks" or "i don't like this". of course my office culture includes swearing like a sailor so i might be a little desensitized to this...

Like many swear words, really depends on context and the relationship between the people concerned. It would be quite offensive to tell a stranger he was talking bullshit, but not at all offensive to tell a friend the same thing. Native speakers have an intuitive understanding of the use of such "palabrotas", but second language speakers need to be very careful.

Mierda del toro?  That may be offensive in Spanish, but I dont know.   :D  The word coger in Latin American Spanish is normally not offensive, commonly used instead of tener, but if I go around saying it in Spain, people look at me funny.  :D  But then it does depend on the context.

FWIW Juan, your written English is excellent, in fact, much better than many native speakers.  You guys do a great job of communicating in English, which I'm sure many of us appreciate very much.

Saludos.

I just love how this thread has evolved, from a discussion about paying more for PixInsight updates to observations from a newcommer [sic] to the etymology and usage of swear words!
