How to align solar images
« on: 2012 June 09 15:53:59 »
Hi,
I was trying to align the solar images posted in http://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=4343.msg30539#msg30539 to each other, using the jpg posted earlier in this thread as a reference:
- StarAlignment does not work, because there are no stars
- DynamicAlignment does not work, because the reference points do not snap to features that are not star-like
- FFT registration script does not work: It finds all kind of alignments, but not the correct ones.
- FFTRegistration module by Carlos: same, plus it throws away part of the image, see screenshot (reference lower left, target upper left, result upper right. Venus is missing in result....)

Any ideas?
