Canon Banding - Sad newbie questions (again!)
« on: 2012 May 30 11:16:05 »
Sorry...

I'm still struggling with the new Batch Processing script - it will be great when it works (for me!).

In the mean time I have a question; On my individual darks and bias frames I can see the infamous banding - it's very obvious on the bias frames - but hard to see on the darks).

Should I use the de-banding utility? if so, when? - before I create calibrate/integrate to create master dark/bias or after?

Is de-banding only useful for Canon RAW bias/dark frames?
Where would/could it fit into the Batch Processing Script?

Sorry for all of the questions
Many Thanks
Phil

Phil, the debanding script doesn't work on raw calibration frames since it doesn't understand the CFA pattern in them.  The debanding script should be used on your calibrated and integrated light frames (i.e. the final stacked image).

Hope this helps,
Craig

Thanks Craig - I guess that makes life simple!
I'll get back to trying to make the Batch Processing Script work with my RAW BIAS/DARK/FLAT/LIGHT frames...
cheers
Phil
