I can't tell the difference between  "General Discussion" and "PixInsight" categories. Do you think it would be better to combine these two categories into a single category and you can name the new single category to whatever you like?

Thanks,
Peter

i agree, the forum categories are slightly broad/redundant and it's not clear where you should post your message sometimes.

It seems to me that PixInsight is where you post messages/questions related to, um... PixInsight, and General Discussion is where you post questions about anything for which there isn't a specific category...

Yes, but there are too many similarities between these two categories. I would rather go to just one category. People seem to be posting questions in the wrong category. Most of the posts in General Discussion are PixInsight specifics. Maybe redefine what "General Discussion" means like non-PixInsight related?

I would suggest to better define the two categories - as Peter said.
It happens that I posted a question in the wrong categorie as well...   :cheesy:

Unless Juan is working on 3 new products, a single category would be enough.  If you have to ask yourself where to post, there is probably too many categories.

maybe if "general" was called "general astrophotograpy" or just "astrophotography"...?

i mean, i doubt people are going to head to the pixinsight forums to talk about cars or swap recipes or something.

IMHO the name is okay. If anything, I'd modify the description to say something like :

"Talk about anything that does not fit better in any of the other categories..."

What is redundant is to call the category "General Discussion" and then describe it as "Talk about anything in general..."

Yes?  8)

That's too bad, I have a great spaghetti casserole to share!

So, is it just me, or don't you (all) usually just load the post changed since your last update and read all of them? That's what I do, no categories to worry about. If I'm going to post, I post in the most appropriate one with confidence that most people will see it.
