AIC 2012
« on: 2012 March 05 13:05:06 »

RBA will be presenting. If I can combine those dates with a business trip to CA I'll probably attend.
Best,

I went to AIC for the first time in 2011, and I had a ton of fun. I learned a lot, I saw a lot of interesting presentations, and met a lot of nice people. I'm local, so it's relatively easy for me to go. I will try to go again in 2012.

I'll be there as well. Perhaps we can have an informal PI meetup at the bar on the Friday evening?

Yeah I'll be there as well (I'd better! ;) )

Rob, Jay mentioned the no-meals pass after last year's AIC. I haven't seen that anywhere, but do protest. You never know.

nah, i'm tilting at windmills here.

they added the "bay area resident" attendee class - $299 to attend, no breakfasts or dinners, but lunch included! awesome!

so i signed up, and i'm in RBA's class! can't decide whether to sit in the front row and eagerly raise my hand like Hermione or hang out in the back behind a newspaper and smoke.

I'm sorry to say that due to family matters, I have to be in Spain from September to December.
I am okay to fly from Spain to California just for the AIC conference, but not out of my own pocket, and after talking to the AIC folks about all this, they said they can only cover international airfare for one speaker which they have already arranged, so they'll be finding a replacement -- whether it's about PixInsight or something else, I do not know.

I was really looking forward to giving this workshop, but what's going to keep me in Spain those months is not something I can do much about.

I hope those of you who can attend have a lot of fun. There'll be another gigantic display with some astroimage captured by three friends and yours truly, just like the one we showed last year, but even bigger. This year however I won't be able to see it in person.

Rogelio, I'm very disappointed that you won't be able to make it. I was really looking forward to seeing you and attending your workshop. I hope your family matters are resolved happily.

here is a crazy idea, and maybe RBA would not like it, but what if we all pitched in and bought and/or subsidized RBA's airfare? how much money are we talking about here (i rarely fly internationally so i have no idea...)
