Antares Rho Ophiuchus.

EDIT: As a critique, is the lack of dark frames evident? The dark noise level was so low that dark calibration seemed superfluous. Particularly as most of the noise appeared to be bias.

Image acquired at a constant temperature of 7 degrees C with a cooled and spectrum modified Canon 1000D DSLR. 200mm camera lens, f/4, ISO800, 210 seconds/frame. Optical polar alignment.

47 lights, 50 bias, 10 flats, no dark frames. All frames dithered mechanically by 10 - 15 pixels in a spiral pattern to improve flat fielding and eliminate bad pixels.

Calibration and integration using the DSLR_RAW workflow. Followed by post processing in PI.

Feedback welcomed, particularly in relation to no dark calibration.

Very nice. How I wish I could one day take a shot of that region.

Really wonderful image!
Is this region unavailable in the northern hemisphere?
Where was it imaged from then?
Clear Skies!!

It's available from at least some areas of the NH (check any planetarium) but in my case it's low to the South where New York City and other cities are. The LP is so bad I can never tell what is signal and what is misery.

I do live in a poorly LP area, unfortunately the clouds are my problem Sander  >:(
Don't you image with NB filters avoiding the LP problems?
Clear Skies!!

Yeah, lots of clouds here too. And cold temperatures in winter, hot and humid with bugs in summer. We're lucky there's been almost no snow this winter. Last year I was out for months because my obs couldn't open.

I have an OSC camera with an IDAS LPS filter. Some day I'll own a mono camera with NB filters :)
