Existing IPTC metadata not saved
« on: 2012 March 04 07:12:43 »
Hi,

Recently I started to use the new MultiscaleMedianTransform tool to sharpen daytime photos with great results. All these images have IPTC metadata such as title, description and keywords that are lost after saving the image from PI. I load and save the images in jpg format and I take care to tick the 'save metadata' option when saving the image but the fact is that the new saved image has these metadata fields empty. This is very annoying because I have to create a copy of the image before sharpening it in order to have the original metadata so that I can copy it from the old file to the new -saved from PI- one. Am I missing something or is this just a bug?

Hi Pere,

It is a limitation of current PI versions. EXIF and IPTC metadata are not preserved in TIFF and JPEG files. I know this is an annoyance, and I a'm sorry for that :(

This will be fixed in a future release of the TIFF and JPEG file format support modules.
