Hot Pixel removal

Hi!

How is the process to remove hotpixels with PI - I cant find a possibility.
Has someone a good tip?

let the magic of DBE tool help you find the hotties...
Normally this clever feature irons out all kind of negative image stuff...

After applying DBE you can use ACDNR or GREYCstoration to combat more imperfections.

In fact there are several ways to track an eliminate parasites like hot pixels  ;D

 Try the CosmeticCorrection script under utilities.   Works great for me.

Well, DBE is certainly not the right tool to remove hotpixels. DBE is designed to model and remove smooth large-scale gradients. Background interpolation can't model sharp pixel-size features like hotpixels.

On the other hand, CosmeticCorrection script is tool tailored to remove hotpixels, so it's probably best choice (even better is tool replacement of this script published here http://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=3483.0 by author Nikolay Volkov - but it's not part of official distribution).

ACNDR and GreycStoration could also help, but their purpose is general noise reduction, so they'd affect whole image, not just hotpixels.

If you don't mind tracking down hot pixels one by one, the CloneStamp tool works great. Fast and effective. I haven't tried the CosmeticCorrection script, but I will.

Hi Herbert!
Have tried to write a very simple PixelMath solution
to remove Hotpixels already from the RAW images. Its not perfect. But works
in some cases... (One version for OSC-raws one for BW-raws)
Can show it to you on our
1. Austrian PixInsight User Meeting.
on January 7th 2012.
