Hi Howard,

you get messages about "slot 2" if there is another PI instance running (or has not properly terminated). Here is the somewhat generic advice:
- check in you process explorer if there is still another PI process running. If necessary, kill it.
- If this fails, reboot the machine
- if this fails, reset the PI settings (hold down Ctrl-Key while starting PI)
- if this fails, reinstall PI.

Sorry for this somewhat unspecific advice, but this is the procedure that I would try.

Georg

PS: Someone also reported that somehow the update-devel repository disappeared in his installation. If this is the case in your install, follow the instructions in http://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=3335.msg22976#msg22976

Hi Georg:

Many thanks for the suggestions. I have tried rebooting the machine, but the problem seems to persist. Next up is to try resetting the PI settings, the next chance I have to run it

Hi Georg:

A final follow-up on my problem with downloading the GradientDomian modules. The issue had nothing to do with the modules, but was in fact related to the problem I was having with running a 2nd instance of PixInsight. Juan pointed out in reply to my Bugs Report post that my PixInsight installation needed to be reset (as you expected), and that that is easily done with a Cntrl backdoor, as he succinctly detailed in that thread:

http://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=3635.0

I only just now had time to try it, and of course it worked ;)!

So thank you again for your reply, and for putting up with a 2nd time that I've incorrectly suspected a problem with the GradientDomain modules! The GradientsMergeMosaic tool is just what I needed for the project I'm currently working on, and is both powerful and easy to use.

Best regards,
Howard

No problem. Happy to have another happy customer again  :)
