MultiScaleMedianTransform

This process on my Mac (i7-8gig) is very slow, it takes around 15 second to see a Bias change in the Preview window.

Adding to what I just posted, if I leave the Preview Window small a change in one bias layer takes 95 seconds, if I enlarge the Preview Window the same change takes 390 seconds to be displayed. Note the Processor display in the lower left corner of the screen, MMT does not seem to be able to max out all four bars/threads. When I apply MMT to the image all four bars are max out.

Hi Cleon,

This happens because you're applying adaptive filters (when the Adaptive noise reduction parameter is set to a value greater than zero) at very large scales. Try to avoid this feature at scales larger than 8 pixels; 16 pixels as a limit. These adaptive filters are terribly slow when they are applied at large scales. We'll try to improve this feature in the next version of the tool.

You can also try out noise reduction with several small previews instead of the whole image. When you have found a good set of parameters, apply the process to the whole image and take a rest ;)
