Probably the most basic question but one I need to ask.
what is the best method to combine images of different exposure lengths
I use an unmodded Canon EOS Rebel xs(1000d).
I've toyed with image interrogation ,dynamic alignment but a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Be easy on me …my math skills are limitted  :-[

Hello,

the HDRComposition process in the ImageIntegration category is what you're looking for. There's a nice tutorial about this process by Rogelio Bernal Andreo here http://blog.deepskycolors.com/archive/2011/01/16/HDR-Composition-with-PixInsight.html.

Thanks Zbynek
that’s what I was looking for and ironically its the target I will be imaging for a mosaic in the next few months.
Awesome :)

Later I’ll get brave and ask more about pixelmath but this will get me started.

Well, talking about HDR in astroimages, it's rarely about other objects than M31 and M42 :-).

Actually, an HDR composition is necessary for most galaxies and bright nebulae if you want to get a really deep image. Everywhere you get some white pixels, HDR applies :)
