OSX- Snow Leopard and Lion
« on: 2011 July 31 16:01:36 »
Gentlemen,

System spec.
Apple Imac
Processor  2.93 GHz Intel Core i7
Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7
PixInsight 1.7

I have a problem with the Apple mouse that I have noticed on Snow Leopard and Lion. The mouse likes to zoom in/out of its own accord so much so I have changed the original for a wired 3 button (heaven forbid) Microsoft mouse.

Looking at it I think it might have something to do with the double tap / smart zoom?

Regards

Julian

check your universal access control panel item... see if zooming is turned on with the mouse wheel (check box at bottom of panel under Options... button in zoom section)

Have checked and it is off. Thanks for the advice?

even if zoom is turned off on the main panel, under the options... button, if "use scroll wheel with modifier keys to zoom" is checked the mouse can still cause the screen to zoom. maybe you have a stuck key or somehow one of the mouse buttons is mapped to the control key (which is the default modifier key for scroll wheel zoom)

I have actually turned that off now and it does not zoom at will now. Awkward place to find. Thank you for your help.

that's good news. its strange that this is happening to you, you must have a stuck key or something on your keyboard? i've never had this happen...

Hi

I am using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, every fourth or fifth boot the iMac does a safe boot because it does not see either the mouse or keyboard.

That would be my only complaint, thanks for taking the time to answer my posts.

thats definitely not normal - i wonder if there's something wrong with your imac. if you live near an apple store they can fix you up pretty easily.

I spoke to the chaps at the Apple store, their only recommendation was to not have anything plugged into the USB port during boot up??

I am glad I don't pay for that advice.

that's ridiculous. did you go in? it's a hassle but if you take the machine in and describe the symptoms, they can test with a different mouse/keyboard and perhaps conclude that the machine is bad. i've had really good luck getting them to replace or repair hardware, but then again i live near silicon valley...

Hi

I have been meaning to take it in. I have upgraded to lion and I still see the same problem. My only problem is it's a bit of a lump. I live near Exeter in the UK, my Apple store is in the town centre.

Handy living near Silicon Valley?

I met Steve Wozniak years ago when I lived in San Diego.
