Juan, not to be negative, but what is all about ?
OK, Gnome tries to be more like Maemo (I have maemo on my phone and it is great for a phone) or android or iphone/ipad. Ubuntu folllows - they even have a Ubuntu store for God's shake ! . During the last upgrade I also got mad when I found my desktop switched to an android-like tablet, until I found the way to switch back to the old environment. So what ? When things like this prevented real Linux users using the OS ? You always know (and you knew it since 1994) that you have to put your personal touch on it every time, and IMHO it is part of the fun. Personally I do not care for commercial games and/or adaptability of the OS to the end market - we tried this the last decade and frankly it failed. There is Mint (as the article says) and there is always Debian and there is IceWM and there is KDE and whatever. As soon as the repository is there and/or as soon as the software is always there, who (from us that really like Linux) really-really cares ?
Just my 2 cents
