Hi Dave and the rest of people having this problem.

The problem is with Windows XP. I have tried to fix this issue but it isn't as easy as it seems. It requires a complete redesign of ACDNR's graphical interface. For some reason that I can't figure out, nested group boxes (edge protection section) are being messed up on Windows XP, and nothing I've done so far seems to fix them. A quick and dirty solution would be putting everything in the edge protection section together without group boxes, but I haven't had the time to do that. I'll try to do it ASAP, but that's just a temporary fix specific to XP.

What I cannot understand is why when you switch to the Plastique style (Window > GUI Style > Plastique) it still doesn't work. The plastique style does not use Win XP's theme engine at all, so it should work exactly the same on all platforms. Have you really tried this?

On a side note, please realize that issues with Windows XP are becoming more and more numerous, and this situation won't get any better in the future. We are in fact thinking on changing our official support status for Windows XP, and we'll make some important decisions in this regard soon.

Well - mine happened on Windows 7...

I went ahead and created a screen shot with Plastique for your review:

Ouch! Now this *is* new!

Is there anything 'peculiar' in your Windows 7 configuration? Have you customized screen fonts?

Anybody else having similar problems on Windows 7?

No - I hadn't changed any of that...the only thing I had changed recently was my PixInsight swap file location because I bought an SSD drive.  But I don't remember if that was exactly when it happened.

The following steps seems to sort of fix the problem:

1.  In Process Interface Fonts and Colors, change the font to Verdana and hit Global Apply
2.  In Process Interface Fonts and Colors, change the font size to 8 and hit Global Apply
3.  In Process Interface Fonts and Colors, Load Default Page Settings and hit Global Apply

It is still not quite right - I've attached a screen shot.

In playing around with it, it seems like the font metrics are being calculated incorrectly for the width calculations - I can change the fonts, and it doesn't seem to properly resize.  Is it possible that the font is not being passed to the resizing calculations correctly in the UI layout code?

Hi all,

We have just released an update that should solve this strange problem on Windows. I apologize for the long delay in fixing this bug.

We still have been unable to reproduce this bug on our machines. However, after thorough study we have concluded that the problem must be caused by nested group box controls in the ACDNR interface. Therefore we have redesigned the ACDNR interface without nested group boxes. We are confident that this will fix the problem.

Note that in order to preserve coherence of the ACDNR interface on all platforms, we are distributing this bugfix update also for Linux and Mac OS X, even if this is a Windows-specific bug.

Thank you for your patience.

The font that is default on Win7 (at least I dont remeber changing the default) appears to be called "Segoe UI". No problem with this one.
