Thanks for checking Alejandro

Tried reboots and a few other things but still the same. Looks like the dark and bright sliders are trying to display in the same place.

Will try re-downloading and re-installing.

re-downloading and re-installing is for the birds. It won't change anything. The installer checks itself for integrity before doing the install.

Occasionally these types of corruptions show up. It's like QT gets confused about font sizes or doesn't find the expected fonts and that breaks the auto layout code. Hopefully Juan has more concrete ideas how to debug this.
Best,

A full settings reset may help. Execute PixInsight with the Ctrl key pressed, and follow instructions.

Did you change the default font sizes in your system? If yes, this might be the problem.

Many thanks for the ideas

Tried the Ctrl start - reset pixin - still the same

Changed the process interface font - this has an effect on the menu, increased to 12 and the sliders disapear altogether. (screenshot) but still corrupted so no real benefits.  :(

Hi Darren,

This is a very strange problem, haven't seen anything similar before. Let me make some tests on Windows XP to find a solution.

There is a workaround:

- Restore the default font with Preferences.
- Select: Window > GUI Style > Plastique
- Exit PixInsight.
- Launch PixInsight Core. The problem should be gone. You won't have desktop integration with the XP theme, but the Plastique GUI style is also nice and works flawlessly.

Sorry for the inconvenience; I'll try to fix this issue as soon as possible.

Hi Darren,

Then this is really strange. The Plastique style doesn't use the system theme engine, so it should work in a predictable and bug-free way on all platforms. For some reason that I can't figure out, even Plastique is not rendering fonts correctly on your machine.

Which version of Windows are you using? Have you customized your screen preferences (in Windows, not in PixInsight) to set a nonstandard font face and/or size?

Juan

do not spend any time on this, it is not causing me problems. It seems to be system specific and I intend to upgrade to a 64bit platform soonish

many thanks for the software, it has improved my images leaps and bounds.

I'm suffering from this affliction too now I've upgraded to 1.07.00.0697.  Running Windows XP Home 32bit with 120% fonts.  I've tried returning to default fonts, different UI settings.  I can actually JUST manipulate the various sliders.

I'd just about weened myself off doing final noise tweaks in photoshop/Noise ninja too actually and made myself come to grips with ACDNRs parameters.   :-[
Not a show stopper, but something seems to have changed.

Juan,

Same problem here, on both win xp pro 02 SP3 and win xp home edition 02 SP3

Perfect on both before updating to 1.7...
