News:
uninstall doesn't remove pixinsight32.ini and pixinsight.ini in "application data" directories.
After uninstall, I've removed by hand that files. As a result, pixinsight has installed correctly whithout twicing the process (under C:\Programmi\PixInsight since i run an italian version of winXP), and now it's able to find the scripts....
BUT ....upgrade doesn't run again.
Ok Juan, stop for me. Please let me know anything.
As a programmer I know that auto installation of upgrades under Windows is a labyrinth  ;).

Federico

Hi Federico,

This is strange; I've just tested the application on a Windows XP SP2 machine and everything works without problems. And my version of XP is in Spanish, so I have "C:\Archivos de Programa" instead of "C:\Program Files".

As a sanity procedure, please perform a complete reset of PixInsight settings. Either select the corresponding option from the Start menu, or hold Ctrl pressed while you run PixInsight. Let's see if all returns to normality in this way.

OK this time BUT with these notes:
1) If the user is different from Administrator, but with administrator rights, the installer presents a popup asking for the correct user that will perform the upgrade; deselect the chekbox about "prevent unauthorized operations"
2) unchecked the box about automatic PixInsight restart after upgrade (for this last i'm not sure).

Thank you Juan.

Juan,

again ... many thanks for this update.
It took me only 5 to 6 minutes to download and install, updating went smooth, scripts are fine.

System here is MacOSX snow leopard. PI-32 bits.

The only "manual" labor required was to reinstall the process icons. No problem with that.

I am impressed by the qualitycontrol of PI.

regards, Hans

Perfect installation here (prior uninstalling old version) in a custom directory for astronomical applications (/astronomia). Updates without problems using the username and password of the session (WinXP32) I believe that PI is more secure than my home banking right now :P

Best,

Enzo.

Hello Juan
After updating the Windows version 32bit of PixInsight, strange things have occurred: for example on the SCNR. Instead of removing the green, it adds too, you can see the photo attached. Or when I make an updates, it continues to fail to discharge.
The destination folder is in C / Programs / PixInsight
I don't know what I must to do.
can you help me?
Thank you in advance.

Ciao
Giorgio

Hi Giorgio, Harry,

Yes, I can confirm this bug in the SCNR tool. I'll release an update as soon as possible.

In the meanwhile, the workaround is simply disabling the "Preserve luminance" feature. With this feature disabled, green is removed correctly, as always.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Wow!

I finally solved the problem of updates!

It was (for me) only a check in the box of user account. I remove the check and immediately started the download!

Thanks to all!

Ciao Giorgio

Sorry to raise this again. But is the absence of icons alongside the menu text a normal feature, or is it a GTK+ issue. Could it be that I am running xfce4 with limited GNOME support. I note that GNOME support is now included.

Many thanks

Nope, this happens also on Ubuntu 10.10 and Fedora 13/14 with the latest versions of GNOME. The application integrates nicely with GNOME but for some reason we have no icons on all menus. This seems a bug in Qt 4.7.x (it happens with Qt 4.7.1 and happened also in 4.7.0).

The only solution for now, if you want all the icons back, is selecting Window > GUI Style > Plastique. However, by doing so you loose GNOME integration. The only practical problem with this, along with the fact that GNOME styles are much nicer than Plastique, is that PixInsight will use multiplatform file dialogs instead of the wonderful GTK+ file dialogs. Other than that, Plastique is rock-solid.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
