Bias frame useage
« on: 2010 December 03 05:53:08 »
Hi all,

This is probably a pretty basic question, but I thought I'd check here.
Should I be calibrating my flat frames with a master bias frame or will I be doing double duty since I'll be applying the bias frame to my light frames anyway.

thanks,
Dave

I might have answered my own question through testing. When I tried to calibrate my light frames with flats that had been calibrated with a master bias frame, I received the following error message: "Zero or insignificant scaling factor for flat frame channel #0. (Empty master flat frame?)"

Does that mean my flat and bias frames are so similar that bias calibration eliminated all data from my flats? That sounds like a bad scenario to me.  :(
