PI 1.6.1 won't start on Windows 32 bits
« on: 2010 August 27 02:26:49 »

Hi Juan,

I uninstalled the previous version as usual and run the PI 1.6.1 installation file. Everything went OK but I cannot start PI. A window pops up with the following message:

"No se encuentra el punto de entrada del procedimiento freeaddrinfo en la biblioteca de vĂnculos dinĂ¡micos WS2_32.dll"

My OS is Windows 2000 and the installer is: PI-win-x86-01.06.01.0625-nsi-20100727-c.exe

Many thanks,

Pere

Hi Pere,

I'm sorry to say that PixInsight no longer supports Windows 2000. For more information on this specific problem, see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms737931%28VS.85%29.aspx.

You must use Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed at least. Sorry!

Thank you for the reply. No problem here, though. This is my computer at work so I can leave without PI here  ;).  At home I use Windows XP and Windows 7 in the laptop.
