STF Histogram Interaction Bug?
« on: 2010 July 18 14:19:22 »
When working with RGB images I can use STF Auto and then transfer those settings to the histogram tool by pulling the triangle to the lower bar of the histogram.  Then execute the histogram settings obtain from the STF transfer on the image to get a permanent change.  However if I am working with a greyscale ie Ha master this does not work????  The STF Auto works but the setting do not transfer to the histogram tool, and of course do not execute.

Macbook Pro with current OS, PI 1.6

I've just tried it and it works as advertised. When you transfer STF to HT from a grayscale image, the histogram transformation function is only copied to the combined RGB/K channel of HT, not to the individual channels. The same happens also with a RGB image when the three STF functions are identical.

Does this work for you in this way, or am I missing something here?

Yes I agree with what sliders move.  And as explained the process works as advertised when I am dealing with a RGB image.  But in my version when I Auto stretch a Ha master (greyscale) and transfer the settings to the Histograms by moving the STF triangle to the lower bar of the Histogram where it forms a square, I do not see a change in the RGB/K histogram curve.  Then if I execute on the image from the histogram curve it does not permanently change the image, since if I reset the STF I go back to a unstretched image?

Hey if it is just me I will wait for 1.61 and see if that cures my ills.  Thanks

Hi Jack,

You were right! I have confirmed this bug and it is now fixed in version 1.6.1. STF parameters are now correctly transferred to HistogramTransformation for grayscale and RGB images.

When the STF comes from a grayscale image, it is always transferred to the combined RGB/K channel of histograms. When the STF comes from a color image, it is transferred to:

- RGB/K if the three STF functions are identical (as happens when you have channels linked in STF's interface).
- Individual RGB channels otherwise.

Thank you for this catch! ;)
