MaxIM DL compressed FITs
« on: 2010 July 08 10:29:23 »
MaxIm has a compressed FITs format that is lossless. It would save a lot of disk space on these larger files.
I also use a wireless connection to pass my images from the observatory. It would speed the transfer up.

It's a proprietary compression method. I sincerely recommend turning it off.

It doesn't work in a lot of other programs such as CCD Inspector either

I've ended up disabling it, it's more hassle than it's worth

According to Doug George ( MaxIM DL ) ,

I think I am only the 2 or 3 third guy to ever ask about the source code

The code is owned by Paul Boltwood. ( Boltwood cloud sensor maker)
He might open it up to community if there is enough interest
