Write Failure
« on: 2010 June 13 14:56:23 »
Juan,

I have the following directory structure in Windows XP:

W:\Images\Comet McNaught (2009_R1)\300mm

PixInsight 1.6 can read from any underlying sub-directories; unfortunately, it cannot write to the following directory:

W:\Images\Comet McNaught (2009_R1)\300mm\Test

I'm beginning to think, the parenthesis are tripping it up.  What are your thoughts?

Wade

Are you trying to write FITS files? I found that writing fits is not possible for certain file names such as light (3).fts, while light3.fts works.

Hi Wade,

Initially I didn't believe that '(' or ')' were valid, acceptable, characters for file or path names. So I would simply have agreed with Georg

However. checking at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filename I find no mention of '(' or ')' being restricted ???

Whilst Windoze may be more forgiving, perhaps PI is less so ::)

This may require Juan to specify whether there IS a problem, and WHAT that problem might be.

Cheers,

See http://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=1254.msg6377#msg6377 for Juan's response to my original problem with file names.

Georg,

Thanks for the link to an older discussion.  It appears I will need to rename my original directory.  :(
