windows configuration for pixinsight

I have purchased the custom desktop PC with windows service pak 2 installed manually. When I am trying to run Pixinsight for the first time it says "the application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect" . I downloaded trail version for 32bit platform. Any ideas how to fix this

The obvious thing is to first make sure you have the very latest M$soft OS patches and that includes installing SP3.

I don't think pixinsight exe core file is " windows patch" dependent, it says in the instructions that you must have SP2 or later version, so I have SP2, it must be something in bios or command line or registry of the computer that I have to run or make sure its running prior to core application, someone in the development team should know and I am waiting on their reply ...hopefully soon..

Hi shurik,

This is a known problem with Windows XP and PI 1.5.9. I assume your PC has Windows XP installed, although we also have seen this on a couple Windows Vista machines. Here's the solution:
