Regarding freezing of the 3DPlot script: When I am processing a fits file that was generated by stacking a number of .CR2 files with DSS (3774x2298 i16 pixels, 50 Mbytes), the script freezes at 60%. A 1600x1600 version completes quickly to 100% , but fails with "out of memory" before actually drawing (Vista 32 task manager reports 1.6 GBytes of 3GB used. Smaller pictures (e.g. 500x500 pixels) work fine

I tried to install this tonight and am getting a message "The application failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.  Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."  Reinstalling the 1.5.9 doesn't work -- I still get the message.  I can reinstall 1.5.6 though and will go back to that version.  Please help.

A number of users have reported the same problem with Windows XP. The solution is installing a redistributable package from Microsoft:

For 32-bit Windows versions:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

For 64-bit Windows versions:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)

Besides redistributables, you should keep your Windows installation up-to-date. Windows XP Service Pack 3 is strongly recommended.

Thanks Juan, that worked.  Up and running with 1.5.9!
