I think the answer is “It depends”. If you are cropping to get rid of bad borders then I think crop first. However if the whole image is ok then I would delay cropping. The processed picture may lead you to a different crop than the unprocessed one.

I would go along with Geoff, it is what I do, I always crop first to clean up the borders only......
