Double clicking an XISF file crashes PI
« on: 2020 February 21 03:18:32 »
If I have an XISF file on my desktop and double click it to open it (Pixinsight is set as the default programme for this file type) Windows says it is looking for the installation package - I have pointed it to the PI *.exe file and it thinks about it for a few seconds then crashes - any ideas ?? If I open Pixi then open the file it works just fine. Help!   (Windows 10 Pro and Pixi latest version)

It worked properly until the last major update.

PS - A colleague has the same issue and tells me it is an incorrectly written line in the registry but I dont feel confident in editing the registry.

Hi,

Try this:
On your desktop, point at the .XISF file and right-click and select "Open With" and then select "Choose another app", next select PixInsight and also check the box that says "Always use this app to open .XISF files"

space is not black

I fixed mine by downloading the latest version, uninstalling the existing one, and installing the new one. Something got messed up between updates.

Please note that this is a known problem, which we fixed weeks ago:

Just download and install the latest 1.8.8-4 installation package.
