LRGBCombination issue
« on: 2009 October 11 09:57:53 »
Hi,
Something wrong goes with LRGBCombination (or, as often happened, this is a feature that I don't know how to use correctly :) ).

Anyway - below is a screenshot from PI1.5.6 with initial crops of L, R, G, B channels (archive of 8 bits FITS will try to attache to the next message) and LRGB result, stretched with STF Auto Stretch individually. LRGBCombination was used with default parametes.

For some reason you can see that M31 core is YELLOW that means that B channel is equal to 0 inside it on LRGB. It's obvious that initial B shot has some signal in the M31 core (see marks on screenshot, reading of channel values is available in Status Bar).

What's going wrong? Level of signals in different initial channels is seriously differ. Should I change some parameters from their default value?

8 bits crops are used for illustration purpose only here, nonetheleas result is the same with 16 bit integer of 32 bit float.

Thanks

ZIP archive with 8 bit initial files and LRGB results. Check core of M31 in LRGB where B=0...

Hi,
Should I provide some additional data on issues like 16bit crops?
Thanks,

Anybody home ?  ???

I got same result with the images.
Also you can extract R,G,B from LRGB image. Very interesting result.

Hi Yuriy, Nikolay,

SORRY for the late answer! I missed this post completely (please, when this happens, don't hesitate to give me a good bump :footinmouth:)

This is certainly a strange —or interesting, as Nikolay says :)— result. I've never seen this before. I'll work with Yuriy's 8-bit images to try to understand what happens. I'll come back here when I have something useful about this issue. Thanks for posting and sorry for the inconveniences.

Thanks Juan
(and Nikolay for escalating this ;) )
Just would like to point again that 8bits samples are used as examples only, I've got the same results with 16 bit integer and 32 bit float originals...
